The Committee on Student Parent Issues (COSPI) was charged with advising Provost Courant on the implementation of recommendations made by the Student Parent Task Force regarding child care and other supportive services for students with children.
These recommendations were part of the December 2001 report "Enriching the Mix: Responding to the Needs of Student Parents at the University of Michigan." COSPI also advises the Provost on improving access to, and affordability of, child care, as outlined in an agreement between the University and the Graduate Employees Organization (GEO).
COSPI was comprised of students with children, members of the GEO, faculty, and staff from units that serve students with children.
